Consider The Source To Release First Studio Material In Four Years

Instrumental trio Consider the Source, the planet’s preeminent Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion ensemble, are releasing their first studio material in four years; A 3-disc collection titled World War Trio which will launch with the debut of a compositionally driven EP (part 1) on Halloween showcasing their songwriting prowess, with the dazzling displays of furious virtuosity taking a backseat.

Recorded at Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, funded by a successful Indiegogo campaign, this will be their first recording with drummer/percussionist Jeff Mann, whose recent addition has supercharged the band’s chemistry.

World War Trio spans three discs and a universe of sonic territory. Their masterful improvisation, frantic energy, and unique blend of progressive rock and Middle Eastern music have brought them worldwide acclaim, and a rigorous global tour schedule has forged them into a fearsome live band.
Disc one, “Put Another Rock in that Bag” will contain an epic, 25-minute work in six parts. It features one section written by Jan Zerfeldt, mastermind of prog deities Panzerballet, with whom Consider the Source has toured throughout Germany and the US.

Consider the Source will premiere the work on Halloween in Albany, NY with a full performance of the EP, launching a tour that will lead to the release of discs two and three as a double album in Fall of 2015.

This double album will showcase the other sides of Consider the Source: authentic instruments from around the world, acoustic songs, ballads, and improvised pieces. Fans need not worry, however: the EP will feature a short “Making of World War Trio” documentary, with previews of tracks from the forthcoming album.

M!NT Drops “Rookerie Ruins” Remix

In case you aren’t familiar, M!NT aka Cody Yozipovic is a dedicated composer, music producer & multi-instrumentalist who encompasses a wide range of experience over almost every genre of music which goes to show in his latest production.

This latest remix comes from a track by fellow Brooklynite B-Riddimz, who broke into the music scene as a drummer for Brooklyn-based bands Brooklyn Gypsies and Technicolor Lenses.

In less than 24 hours since it premiered, M!NT’s remix reached over 4K plays, making it obvious he is going places.

M!NT will also be playing at Burning Man this week…. He’s got 4 sets except the only one that we know the location of for now is at Camp Ego Trip on Thursday at 8PM. He will also be playing the same stage as Skrillex and Diplo for one of the other nights with an expected audience of 20K people.

This fall M!NT will be dropping his sophomore EP titled “Pay It Forward.” Be sure to keep your ears and eyes open for that one.

10 Reasons To Absolutely Not Miss Catskill Chill

Catskill Chill is finally about to go down on September 5th-7th at Camp Minglewood in Hancock, NY.

This year is stacked with a killer lineup, one so good you could even say this is the festival not to miss this summer.

With that said, we give you our 10 reasons to absolutely not miss Catskill Chill.

10.) Weather
Ah yes, finally the summer’s heat is cooling off. This will literally make for some of the most perfect weather at probably any festival during the summer. Hopefully clear skies will call Hunter Mountain home for that weekend.

9.) Cabins
Cabins at Chill come in either a bunkhouse style with 16 bunk-beds in two rooms or you can rent out a double cabin with two separate bedrooms, showers and a front porch. Most festivals don’t even have the option to rent a cabin, so the fact that you can get an ultimate party space for you and your friends on the festival grounds is amazing.

8.) Capacity
One of the best things about Chill, is that it will almost definitely sell out due to capacity. I think the reported total (this is not an official number) is around 5,000 that the chill can hold.

7.) Open Mic
From Noon-1:30 pm you or anyone at Catskill Chill can participate in an open mic set at the Acoustic Junction stage. You’ve got to admit, its pretty cool that you can perform at the festival you’re attending.

6.) VIP Package
This year’s VIP package at Catskill Chill is solid and comes with a private set and BBQ with Dopapod. The package also includes a t-shirt, closer parking, golf cart shuttle services and more.

5.) Location, Location, Location
Catskill Chill is held at Camp Minglewood in the small town of Hancock, NY in the amazingly gorgeous Catskills just outside of NYC. Trails, Waterfalls and quirky small towns are abundant in the area which make this a great location to have a festival.

4.) The Schedule
This year’s lineup is seriously stacked. The organizers have done an excellent job this year of putting together one of the best schedules I’ve ever seen. Take a look for yourself.CC14-Schedule

3.) Electron
The Philadelphia based super-group featuring Marc Brownstein (Disco Biscuits/Conspirator), Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits/Conspirator), Tommy Hamilton (American Babies/Brothers Past), and Mike Greenfield (Lotus) is going to probably be one of the biggest highlights of the weekend.

2.) The People
The people of Chill has to be one of the greatest things about this festival. Families, friends, bands and staff mingle amongst the beauty of Camp Minglewood. Its just something that you simply have to experience for yourself.

1.) The Music of course!
Yonder Mountain String Band. The New Deal. Lettuce. Electron. Shpongle. KDTU. Papadosio. The New Mastersounds. Catskill Chill has probably one of the best and most diverse lineups of the summer when it comes to the jam scene. CATSKILL_4x6_80

The only other festival that I feel compares music wise, is Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival held at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL.
