Catskill Chill is finally about to go down on September 5th-7th at Camp Minglewood in Hancock, NY.
This year is stacked with a killer lineup, one so good you could even say this is the festival not to miss this summer.
With that said, we give you our 10 reasons to absolutely not miss Catskill Chill.
Ah yes, finally the summer’s heat is cooling off. This will literally make for some of the most perfect weather at probably any festival during the summer. Hopefully clear skies will call Hunter Mountain home for that weekend.
Cabins at Chill come in either a bunkhouse style with 16 bunk-beds in two rooms or you can rent out a double cabin with two separate bedrooms, showers and a front porch. Most festivals don’t even have the option to rent a cabin, so the fact that you can get an ultimate party space for you and your friends on the festival grounds is amazing.
One of the best things about Chill, is that it will almost definitely sell out due to capacity. I think the reported total (this is not an official number) is around 5,000 that the chill can hold.
7.) Open Mic
From Noon-1:30 pm you or anyone at Catskill Chill can participate in an open mic set at the Acoustic Junction stage. You’ve got to admit, its pretty cool that you can perform at the festival you’re attending.
6.) VIP Package
This year’s VIP package at Catskill Chill is solid and comes with a private set and BBQ with Dopapod. The package also includes a t-shirt, closer parking, golf cart shuttle services and more.
5.) Location, Location, Location
Catskill Chill is held at Camp Minglewood in the small town of Hancock, NY in the amazingly gorgeous Catskills just outside of NYC. Trails, Waterfalls and quirky small towns are abundant in the area which make this a great location to have a festival.
4.) The Schedule
This year’s lineup is seriously stacked. The organizers have done an excellent job this year of putting together one of the best schedules I’ve ever seen. Take a look for yourself.
The Philadelphia based super-group featuring Marc Brownstein (Disco Biscuits/Conspirator), Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits/Conspirator), Tommy Hamilton (American Babies/Brothers Past), and Mike Greenfield (Lotus) is going to probably be one of the biggest highlights of the weekend.
2.) The People
The people of Chill has to be one of the greatest things about this festival. Families, friends, bands and staff mingle amongst the beauty of Camp Minglewood. Its just something that you simply have to experience for yourself.
1.) The Music of course!
Yonder Mountain String Band. The New Deal. Lettuce. Electron. Shpongle. KDTU. Papadosio. The New Mastersounds. Catskill Chill has probably one of the best and most diverse lineups of the summer when it comes to the jam scene.
The only other festival that I feel compares music wise, is Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival held at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL.
